While our website (phillipian.net) and Instagram account provide digital presence, this app offers an improved experience for mobile users, including push notifications for breaking news and surveys like the State of the Academy or the mock election.
Development: The app is built using JavaScript and retrieves articles, images, and other content via requests to our WordPress-hosted website, which sends back a JSON file. Articles mirror the content on the website but are optimized for mobile. Commenting on articles is not supported.
Push Notifications: Notifications are optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time. They provide timely updates and encourage engagement with surveys and news articles.
Privacy and data: The app does not require user accounts or collect any personal data. It does not track or store user information. Since The Phillipian’s app would not require students to register or create an account, it does not ask for any data regarding the user. The app itself does not track nor record any user data.
